i can understand where you are comming from, being stuck in UT its a little different. perhaps i can shine a different light on your concern. several folks put in a lot of time and scounting for certain special strecthes of river/lake. they put all the foot work, research, and time on the water in and tend to be less talkative about said areas because they "earned" what they catch there. whne they go ahead and let others folks know, those folks let other folks know, and those folks let other folks know, and so on. when the person that put in all this work comes back to a stretch of water they worked so hard to find, they find trash, 2346812376 people, and that their special section of water is no longer special to them any more. they then go and repeat the whole process again but this time remain tight lipped about it.
get out and find what your looking for. study the water, learn whats below, look at the structure. once you start catching huge cats, or bass, or trout (what ever your after) you will have the same satisfaction because you did all the foot work on your own.
edit***
use this forum as a resource and make friends. its unbelievable the amount of things i personally have learned because of fishing with a few folks from here. network with like minded anglers, but be weary of the very few who will only use you for info and nothing more.also take a little bit of time and look through past posts. if your planning on going to a certain lake or beat of river, look back and see if others have been there.
looking over what i typed it came off as being critical of your post, and that is in no way an intention of mine. just trying to highlight the other side of the coin, if you will.
