Before the internet and fishing forums came along, how exactly did people find out where to fish, what bait/ lure/ fly to use, how deep to go, how fast to troll, etc. etc. etc.?
We talked with people face to face. We joined clubs talked to guys at the tackle store & the coffee shop. I fished tournanments with a local bass club for nearly 15 years in the 80's and 90's.
When I was young there were no "Big Box" stores like cabelas & etc just small shops & drug stores. The small shop guys would give out general info. We fished and hunted amost every weekend as gas was not so expensive ( and there was little else to do) and we swapped info with our buddys at work, church, next door & etc.
I think the networking possibilities are far better these days on line. I think the people on this site are really great and have helped me tons! Like in any other community a person needs to become know and become extablished before folks open up and trust them. If you need any specifics from me just send me a PM!
