Why is it trout or warm water fishing???
#47
Cage spawning of Bass has been used in in carp infested waters. Basically you just place a cage in the water, a couple of weeks before the spawn you catch some big spawners out of the same water that needs help and put them in the cage and let them do there thing. The cages keep the carp away from the eggs.

One 3 to 5 pound Bass can lay 30 to 40 thousand eggs. One big carp can suck all those eggs up in seconds.

In a carp infested water very few of those eggs survive. Once hatched the carp don't bother them much. There may be quite a few waters this might work in at the lower elevations in Utah.

Would be a good project for a Bass Club or Boy Scout Troop. With the permission and guidance of a DWR biologist of coarse.

This site kind of shows what I am talking about.

Bassrods, can be in charge of rounding up the spawners.
