Common courtesy not so common at the Gorge
#1
I like to think that those of us who frequent fishing message boards, particularly BFT, have extraordinary common courtesy when it comes to giving each other a little room to fish unmolested.

On Flaming Gorge on Monday of this week, that notion was dispelled. A buddy and I went out with Tarponjim and launched early and as expected Jim put us on the fish. There were several boats fishing the large bay, but all were respectful, each boat fishing their own hump.

Then my buddy and I doubled up on a couple of big fish and after snapping pics one of those other boats turned and made a beeline for our position. They stopped 100 feet or so away and began hunting the same hump we were fishing. Incredibly rude, but it got worse. We doubled up again, and by the time we had a picture of my buddy with his fish, the BFT boat was less than 40 feet from us. This on a 42,000 acre lake! And every hump had fish on it.

Jim asked politely whether they were really going to fish that close to us and they got the message and left. He certainly was nicer about it than I would have been.

I was really appalled at that kind of behavior from a couple of respected Utah BFT members. I'm not naming names. They know who they are. They need to learn to go find their own fish.

And everybody else, please be courteous to your fellow anglers and give them some room. If we want to fish with friends, we'll bring our own.
