I'm not going to bust anyone's chops over their spelling and grammar issues. I've learned to "decipher the code". It won't ruin my day.
Since we're on the subject though, I will say that effective communication is vital to developing positive relationships with those around you.
It's very difficult to be taken seriously by others if they have to strain to read what you're writing. You'll discredit yourself before you've even attempted to present your message.
That impression is made automatically in the brain of the reader. It's not a conscious choice. The conscious choice is to try not to think less of people, based on their grammatical shortcomings.
But still, it's not my problem if someone else can't correctly use the language. It's their own and it's not my business to put them down for it.
I can usually figure out what people are saying, even with the worst of spelling, but my biggest grammar peeve would have to be the huge chunks of verbal vomit I see, in lieu of paragraphs.[:|]
Even when used improperly, paragraphs are essential in breaking up a post. Without them, it's just a big blob of crap I don't even want to attempt reading, especially when punctuation is omitted.
Using the above post as an example, let's look at it without paragraphs, capitalization, or punctuation:
im not going to bust anyones chops over their spelling and grammar issues it happens since were on the subject though i will say that effective communication is vital to developing positive relationships with those around you its very difficult to be taken seriously by others if they have to strain to read what you're writing youll discredit yourself before youve even attempted to present your message that impression is made automatically in the brain of the reader its not a conscious choice the conscious choice is to try not to think less of people based on their grammatical shortcomings but still its not my problem if someone else cant correctly use the language its their own and its not my business to put them down for it i can usually figure out what people are saying even with the worst of spelling but my biggest grammar peeve would have to be huge chunks of verbal vomit even when used improperly paragraphs are essential in breaking up a post without them its just a big blob of crap i dont even want to attempt reading
Now, let's try breaking it up, even improperly:

It still sucks, but it's a lot more readable, right?
Anyhow, carry on folks. I'll try my hardest to dismiss my subconscious reactions to the horrible spelling and grammar that I see all over the place, not just the forums.[]
