LP Kokanee
#2
Tried trolling at LP today. I have dragged a few lures behind a boat before, but this was my first time really trolling. My buddy recently purchased some gear, so after fishing for other species we gave it a shot. It started getting hot by the time we started, so we only trolled for a couple hours.

Took a while to figure out the right depth. We got a few hits, my friend got one to the boat but it got off, then he finally landed one. His first one ever. We took off shortly after that. I think it was a pretty nice one, at 17 3/4 in.

We were just running mono, using a lake troll with a wedding ring. Just starting out, we were pretty unsure of our trolling depth. Should leadcore be the next purchase, or would a line counter reel be more effective?
That is a nice fish! If you can afford it get a cannon mini troll, downriggers are by far the best way to fish for Kokes. I have tryed leaded line, counter reels and found that downriggers are way better. You can set to exact depths and once the fish pulls the line out of the release it's you and the fish, and not having to drag in leaded line and a troll and fish.
