Got out this afternoon on the water after a short afternoon working. Hit the water at three o&#39;clock and fished till nine. I put 17 LM, 3 spots and one drum in the boat during those six hours. Started in one of the places Derek and I have been doing well at this year. It was not meant to be there, only one spot. Moved to a deep hump and fished the edges. Used big worms and cranks....not even a smell. Moved to some exposed grass with frogs and spooks.....Earl will be happy to know not one blow up. emoScratch Where were the fish?<br /><br />Move again to grass edges in the deepest water I could find by it which was about 10 to 15 feet along the grass....there they are!!!! Started nailing bass, no mother load but very consistent. I missed another 10 or so. All on a shakey with a worm. emoThumbsup Fishing that deep in grass you have to be patient, you just cannot hurry. Some of them hit it swimming the worm out of the grass as it would fall. Had some pretty good fish. Best five were 4/9, 4/6, 2/11, 2/7 and 2/6. Had another 2/6 and several other keepers between 1/15 and the 2/6. emoDance Any afternoon I can put 20 bass in the boat by myself is a pretty good day. The only thing missing was a big kicker and I am sure if Derek had been there he would have caught one. emoBig
<br /><br />If you have not looked lately the grass on the chick is really coming up. There are some places you cannot fish it is so thick. emoEek It seems to me that a lot of the bass that normally go deep by now are staying more shallow due to the grass. I was surprised to find that many bass still in water 15 feet and less. emoConfused With that much grass we should have one heck of a fall season this year. Not too bad....best three at 11/10 and best five at 16/7. I also had a spot right at two pounds on my scale. Not a bad spot either. It was odd that the only thing I could get them to hit today was a shakey with a small worm. I tried several other baits and never had a hit.<br /><br />See ya on the water. emoAngler Jmax
