Down Rigger Releases
#11
We used to use 4 & 6lb line for real finicky fish, but with flurocarbon line/leaders, you can go back to 10-12, set the release as light as you want and still get the load on the rod. If you are fishing kokanee, I would not load the rod to much as you will pull it out of their mouth. Loved em for fishing f7 flatfish at the berry on 6lb line . Had two small Walker riggers on a board that went across the front deck of my old Glastron Bass Boat. They used 4lb weights and were good down to about 75ft. The clips would trip on small Kokes or Rainbows. Used standard 7ft med action spinning rods. NOT a big trout fisherman, but it was fun to go up for 3-4 hours once a week to get a feel for what was happening.
