Bear river catfish. taste

A week ago the river temp was 74 degrees. I have only ate one from the bear it wasn't very good but I didn't smoke it which I've been doing with the Willard cats and I love them. In my opinion I think cats larger than 2 to 3 lbs start to decline in taste so I usually keep those 18"ers to eat. But I have a buddy that likes them up to 8 lbs but I have noticed the trout and Kokes are getting really soft lately so I'm planning on releasing everything until the cool off, except if I get some macs at the gorge I love smoking them. But on the Bear I usually turn them back if I could catch them. On a skunk run there at home the last two or three tries. But one of these days I'll go break that streak. I hope. Later J
