OK, today I "unlocked the enigma" of bull trout to me. This evening I spent an hour casting all sorts of lures (could not acquire any roe after all). I seriously went through at least 6-8 lures of different types for NOTHING except a few kokanee followers. Then I put on the smallest, most insignificant lure and thought I'd give that a try. I don't even know what it is, something out of grandpa's tackle box. With this small lure I changed my presentation to just wiggling the lure across the gravel bottom, sight fishing it right in front of the noses of about 15-20 bull trout. I finally got one to bite! And... lost him on the 4lb test. Then a few min later, hooked another one and lost it.
By that time it was time for dinner, but I will be back and hopefully have a trip report now that I seem to have developed some technique, I hope to land one and get a photo. Oh yeah, And I'm bringing the 12lb test next time.
