This reminds me of a time I was float-tubing Silver Lake Flats Reservoir, on Memorial Day a few years ago. The water was high, and this one guy with his family had driven all the way around the lake to the east side. I think he thought he could ultimately drive up onto the dam to complete his drive around the lake. But there was a big rock on the bank in his way, and there were trees to the uphill side of the rock. The only way to keep going was to go into the water (or to turn around and go back, but I digress). I thought to myself "don't do that" as he drove into the lake. He must have thought the water was shallow and the slope of the bottom was gradual, but he was wrong. The water engulfed the bottom half of his car, and lapped at his windows. He was stuck. I soon left, and wondered how he was going to get that vehicle out of the lake. Someone or something got it out, because it was not there the next time I fished up there.
