improving catch rate at the berry
#6
Good thread everyone.

RE""... a second short pole, off the side of the boat. I let it drop just out of sight, and put it in the pole holder." I regularly fish this way from my boat and almost always fish this way when I am ice fishing."

I do this as well when fishing in a boat with sonar, but when the fishfinder indicates a fish is nearby, I'll then grab this rod and start to actively vertically jig. More often than not, I'm rewarded with a hit or better. Also, when someone in the boat catches a fish, actively jig right afterwards. Cutts always seem to follow their buddies as they are being landed and it very often results in an easy double.

RE"NEVER, never never, stop fishing on an even # of fish."

Sorry, but I think I did stop on an even number today. But the fish count was high enough that I may have been off by one or two.
