new guy from the driftless
#8
O yes I have spent quite a bit of time in Wisconsin chasing both browns and brook.
Riverdog- there are a dozen or so wild fisheries in Iowa and another couple dozen put and take streams. The driftless is an excellent fishery. Wisconsin is probably my favorite simply because of both the diversity and number of spring creeks with wild browns and brooks. Fishing amongst horses and cattle! You would be surprised by the number and quality of fish. 20 in. Browns are not all that uncommon and many streams have 1 or 2 thousand wild trout per mile! It cannot compare to the west but is an awesome fishery with beautiful surroundings.

And old troller and would say hooked is an understatement! It has completely consumed my life and I love it!

Anyway, I am planning on stopping at a river to fish on my way out there. Can't drive through the west without fishing! I am thinking either miracle mile on the north Platte or the green at little hole. The plan is to throw some junk to some big kype jaws, however, I will have my backup box of midges larva and scuds just in case!

Any suggestions?
