Interesting you should ask. I have been asking myself that same question since it froze over!
I have spent the last year building a 35' X 10; beam pontoon fishing boat to fish the lake. Not an ordinary boat, but one to accommodate wheelchairs for wounded warriors and children with disabilities.
Saturday morning I purchased the annual permit to slip the boat at Provo Boat harbor. The boat is nearly finished and now she has a home for the year. All I need is ice off.
From many, many years of watching the ice come off at Lincoln Beach my guess is 15 March, but ice off doesn't mean you can launch immediately. Frequently the jetty at Lincoln beach doesn't open up for a few days or until Walleye Bob breaks it out with his "Blue Maru".
The boat, Freedoms Dream, is going to be hard to miss on the water. If you're on the lake and see her, swing by and give the fishermen aboard the thumbs up! They paid the price for the trip in the desert sand of Iraq and Afghanistan;
As I mentioned above, she'll be slipped at the Provo Boat Harbor all next year. Come by and visit us and, who knows, you might be inspired to come aboard and help to help insure these brave young warriors and others with disabilities catch a fish or two.
