nils hand augers
#15
Actually, I have a gas powered auger now, but I still use my hand auger (Mora) with it's original handle often. It goes with me on every trip (as a back up) and if the ice isn't very thick I'll use it instead of the power auger. Sometimes I can drill a single hole with the Mora (by hand) faster than I can start and let the gas auger warm up. Sharp blades are important.
