With not all line is created equal, understand, if it says FLUOROCARBON on the box, look for the fine print. 100% Fluorocarbon is the key. Not the coated stuff (not sure what that is all about anyway)
Berkley Vanish is the POOREST excuse for Fluorocarbon on the market. Fluoro does not have a shelf life (that is one of the bad things about it) therefore, bad batch should not be in the equation.
I fished Vanish one year. Started off using 6 lb and broke off with a couple fish, switched to 8 lb...broke off. Switched to 10 lb. broke off.
Switched to 6 lb P-Line and no more break offs.
P-line and Seaguar are the only two fluorocarbon I will use. I am currently using Cabela's brand and so far, not too bad however stiffer.
With fluoro advantages I swear by it, but I do not see the sense in spooling a whole reel. It is pricey. I use it for leaders and tippet, that is all. I was using it for my 30' leaders for deep nymphing, but I will be changing to mono for 20' and fluoro for the bite area.
