That's pretty much what I do. I use this knot to join the two:

Just remember to use a softer rod when throwing lures with treble hooks. You can get a fantastic action out of your jerkbaits and topwaters with braid, but you don't want to be pulling the hooks out of the fish with a stiff rod. The braid with a fluoro leadercombo works especially well though. I can feel a bass suck in a suspending jerkbait at the end of a 100 foot cast and have no trouble sweep setting him. It works like a charm [
] I also use a line conditioner like Ardent Line Butter. I spray a liberal amount onto my spools the night before I go fishing, and it really seems to give me a bit more casting ease.
