I'm not. I've seen your pix with all them spotty scrawny Mnt troutlings! [:p]
And even if you DO have a scale, lot more potential mis-reads, wiggly fish, mis-held, harder on the fish (unless they're in a bag/basket) - that is if they're going to be released. I've usually only bothered to weight fish I've brought home.
And here-in the reason I stick to LENGTH measures for contest entries. Easier to stay consistent, unless you have one of them "fisherman" rulers.

Seems like most fish hit a tipping point where they don't grow so fast lengthwise, but start putting on the girth, and the weight. In particular some of my favored panfish - start getting taller faster than longer.
