I toasted my 1997 Merc 150 EFI at Bullfrog on April 15 and I'm waiting for a new Mercury Pro XS 150 direct injection 2 stroke (Optimax). My boat should be good to go in about 10 days. I'll look for you at Starvation during some of those weekends. It's the only time my wife the teacher can go until school is over for this year. Look for the Lund 1850 Tyee GS, two tone grey with the new Merc. I'll also be camping in my dark charcoal F250 with the Lance Camper in spot #14 if it's available when we go. I look forward to saying hello and swapping some lies about fishing and turkey hunting.
The engine failure was apparently my fault because I moved my stern transducer too deep and too far inboard and it caused water to be sprayed vertically at high speed along the right side of the motor. Water was injested by the fuel injection system and it caused a "fatal malfunction" as the boat mechanic told me last week. Because something I did apparently caused the failure, my insurance will cover at least a portion of the replacement which is on the high side of $12,000.00.
