[#0000FF]No disagreement from me. But most cats planted in community ponds are much smaller. If they survive and grow to record sizes they are no longer considered to be artificially grown. Unless a community pond has a high protein force feeding program it is no better or worse than any natural body of water.
Also, it is up to each individual state to decide whether or not to accept a record...based on their own criteria. And C&R records are not always held to the same standards as state and national records.
The main reasoning behind most states (and national) record keeping bodies not accepting private pond reared entries was for trout...not so much for catfish. There are quite a few hatcheries around the country that specialize in rearing huge hybrid trout. Naturally those should not be eligible for competition against trout grown in streams and lakes open to all anglers.
