Good point. You do need to do some home work before buying a Bamboo. There are many tapers. Even Payne has several tapers. I like Edwards too. You really need to pick up the rod.
I cast probably 15 before I picked the taper I like.
And buyer beware. "BANTY" This is a small Bamboo rod but BUILT small from tip to butt. The flex is the WHOLE rod.
But, there are many that buy the cheaper 9' 3 piece older rods and take just the top two sections. Add a reel seat and cork and "call" it a banty. It is not. it cast terrible.
It is part of the original taper.
NOW, if you find you absolutely LOVE bamboo, check out Oyster. I have been invited to one of his rod building class....awwww someday
