Striper fest - Lake Mead 07/06
#1
Hit the lake out of Echo around 3 pm and headed south to a few coves i have been eyeballing the last couple trips. Amazing day on the lake...a great end of day top water bite that lasted nearly 3 hours and bagged approx 30 stripers and a couple LMB. They were after very small fry and baby shad, 3" white zara spook was the ticket but just about any small lure that hit the water would do good if fished properly.

After the sun went down i anchored in 80+ foot of water just outside of a long cove south of Echo. Kicked on the fishing lights and the chaos began. I lost count of the number of fish...guessing 75 stripers between 830 pm and 3 am. We ended up leaving out of exhaustion. Nothing big at all - largest was about 4 lbs but most were 1-2 lbs. Sorry no good pics, my phone died right when we got there but my buddy sent me a pic of the fish finder he took. It looked like this NON STOP all night and we never really chummed, just relied on the lights. Pretty good trip - heading back next Saturday to catch the rest of the fish.
