Spend a couple days fishing this lake over the weekend. The fishing was extremely slow but I needed to do some ice fishing. Saturday had the most people up on top but they were all cutting trees and taking pictures of the crazy ice fisherman. I was working the dam area and the other group of 6 was down by the boat ramp. It seemed like they had some action but only managed to catch 2 fish. I think they had a little to much to drink before they showed up. I didn't even have a bite until about a hour before dark and managed 2 brookies and 5 bows averaging between 12-17". A 4x4 is needed until Wednesday and then you could take a car in with chains.
Ice thickness was around 4" of solid ice and 2" of melted ice on top. It should refreeze but last year it opened back up after getting 8" of clear ice. I'd check the thickness close to shore until the temperatures drops again.
I talked to a couple guys who fished all morning and they said it was great until after lunch and they landed a couple big fish. I seen those big fish(14") and from the looks of it the best time is first light and last light. No cuts only bows and brookies.
PS. Be carefull coming off the mtn. with all the black ice and snow.
