Share your input on fishing license changes

From SkunkedAgain: Amy, how does this effect lifetime license holders? Do we still have to buy the second pole permit? I assume we won't see any other increase due to the initial agreement.

If these proposals pass, the second-pole permit will be gone. There is nothing in the proposals that would affect lifetime license holders. I've done some checking, and it sounds like you'd be able to fish with two poles using your lifetime license.

From mojorizing: Amy- it's really simple. Add Salt Lake to the agenda.
What is the average attendance in Vernal, Brigham City, Springville, Green River and Beaver?

I don't have the average numbers, mojorizing. I know that RAC attendance was much higher back when Dedicated Hunters were required to attend. Now, attendance ranges from the single digits to more than 100 people. The minutes of past years' RAC and Wildlife Board meetings are available on our website (see http://wildlife.utah.gov/dwr/hunting/boa...nutes.html). The minutes typically indicate who was in attendance.

From flygoddess: AGAIN I am not asking for Salt Lake "INSTEAD" I am asking Salt Lake (the Capitol City) in addition, as is probably 99% of the people that have mentioned it. They scream about pollution, then don't make us ALL drive so far.
How about a few of those Central Employees drive a couple hours, they would get paid for it. How about AMY answer this.

Flygoddess, what you are requesting is very clear. You want a RAC in Salt Lake City, in addition to all of the other RAC locations across the state. There are currently only five RACs (per our laws/rules), and a change like that can't happen immediately. I'm not saying it can't happen at all, but it would likely take time and a rule/law change. The DWR Director's Office personnel are aware of this discussion thread (and the RAC poll thread). They are also currently exploring options to improve our public-input processes. I can't promise you change by next week, but I believe some changes are coming that will really improve communications between the public and DWR. On this particular fee-increase issue, if you want to attend a meeting in Salt Lake, I strongly encourage you to attend the Wildlife Board meeting on Aug. 22 at 9 a.m.

From flygoddess: Now you wanna post up dates on when the Wildlife board meets up to talk fishing?

The RACs will hear our fishing recommendations from September 10–18, and the Board will discuss the proposed changes and make its final decisions on Nov. 7.
