Here is a suggestion. A river that receives little to no pressure, but has been stocked with a few thousand browns every year for the last 8-10 years. It is one of the most over looked streams in the state. The drive is not to far, Requires a little hiking. You can get skunked, or you can have epic fishing days with some large browns. Try the Price river , but down in the canyon from ford creek (small waterfall by hyway), To below the train tunnels . You will most likely be all alone. But consider this , the dwr has planted an average of 16,000 4" browns per year for the past 10 years in the area. And the next fisherman you see down through there, may be the first. So there is your hidden gem and challenge. But you must post results if you go. I fished it many times as a younger man with good knees. 20+ inchers were pretty common then.
Think streamers, muddlers were my favorite.
