Not to hijack the thread, but I disagree with you just a bit there. I'll admit that there's definitely a grey area there, but the regs say pretty clearly that "Waters not specifically designated below (in the pamphlet) shall remain CLOSED to fishing for fall Chinook salmon unless opened by Commission action." They don't say you can't keep them; they say you can't fish for them.

Fishing for something else and catching one on accident is different than going out and targeting them on purpose (I was steelhead fishing when I caught the coho, I believe Flyfisher117 was steelhead fishing too).

The bummer of the deal is that guys that will go where they know there's lots of salmon and say they're steelhead fishing... plus on a year like this one, accidental catches are bound to happen more frequently. Like I said it gets a little grey, but you still can't go out and intentionally target salmon in that part of the Clearwater.

Anyway, like I said before, congrats to Flyfisher on a nice fish!
