I honestly can't speak for salmon outside of Idaho myself, but I think the different chinook stocks within Idaho alone are quite a bit different from each other. Just talking spring and summer fish, the Rapid River chinook, look different from the South Fork Salmon River chinook, and the Sawtooth chinook look different than either of those.
And again, I think the fall chinook in Idaho are a completely different thing than the Spring/Summer fish.
Just because they are the same genus and specie doesn't make them carbon copies of one another. If you want to dip your toe in the pool, you should google Evolutionarily Significant Unit.
