I'd have to agree, I was a bit put off by Utah when I moved here (from anywheres else). And it did take some time for me to come to appreciate what the state does have to offer, and learn how to live behind the "iron curtain". 25 years later, I have a hard time thinking of moving away (well, not always... but I've got my ties that bind)
BUT - that said - doesn't give anyone license to spout off the way he did, especially as a newcomer. I know I experience plenty of backlash when I first joined the forum.
That's encouraging that you had nice PMs with him. I can tell you he sent PMs that were less civil, I mean enough F-bombs to make your toes curl up like a Wicked which with a house on her back. Made me feel like I was in a Seth Rogen movie or something.
Maybe it was liquid courage, maybe the veil of protection offered my the anonymous interweb. Don't care, not welcome, not needed.
Nothing to stop a feller from rejoining under a new name. BUT - hopefully any return visit would bring a humbled sense.
You looking for rod holders - in an active state, or rod storage? I'm wanting to add a PVC contraption to keep my rods safe, uncluttered - and at the ready. BUT - if I store them vertical, I need a quick-n-easy means to fold them down - low bridges, trees - yeah - I get into the thick of it on the river sometimes. Maybe a hinged holder - so it can lay flat. Hmmm - gears churning....
Jim- I'd like to extend a thanks to you for offering your expert advice, and sharing your quality creations - especially the WHYs of how you create what you do.
I'd also like to thank you for taking it private when you get to dealing with "customers". This isn't the "for sale" board, and it's appreciated that factor is respected.
If I did more deep lake jigging or big-fish fishing, I'd be hitting you up myself. Maybe in time, and a bigger boat - I'll get on board! (or come sample your services, see how it's REALLY done! - care to PM me your rates? )
Everything I've seen from you - you're a class act, and it's unfortunate that some members choose to "diss the guide". Uncalled for IMHO.
Carry on our wayward sons...
