Looking into elect. Downrigger

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#800000][size 3]Cannon, Walker, or Scotty; its true, this is the same as discussing Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. There are going to be champions and detractors for all of them. I'm on my second set of Cannons (I upgraded to Mag 5s last year) and I'm very pleased with that companies products. I fish with a guy that has a set of Scotty's on his boat and loves them.

I also have a close friend in Michigan that fishes Lake Michigan for pleasure and for business. He won't run anything but Big Jon on his boats. And I know from him and from personal experiences fishing Lake Michigan that Big Jon's outnumber all the others combined on charter boats. In other words, if you want what the guys that fish for a living use, then you will buy a set of Big Jon's. But be advised; they ARE the most expensive.

I use Cannon's instead of Big Jon's because I have enough points at Cabela's to get them really cheap and Cabela's doesn't carry the Big Jon down-riggers.

I will add this con about Big Jon, the Company. My Michigan friend told me last year when I upgraded that the Big Jon Company had changed ownership and he had heard several complaints from Charter Boat Captains that the Big Jon Customer Service Department is less helpful/friendly under the new ownership. But they still make the very best down-rigger you can buy.
