I probably woulda said something, and it might not have polite or politically correct. Might lead with a "ahem, do you mind" and see where that goes. But I could guess. Nice toad there - brooder maybe?
Like last night - at Walmart (ruh roh) I have collected more than I could comfortably carry. I plunk it down at the fast check, SAY I'm going to grab a cart. Walk 20 paces while the two in front of me get checked. Return to some Walmartian pushing past my stuff to get checked out. That gal behind the counter had told her "I don't know who's that is" - guess she missed the eye contact?! And me walking up with a cart?! Right then!
I call off Large Marge and point to my stuff ON the counter "I'm next - excuuuuuse me". The counter gal takes the next 5 minutes punching numbers, making beeps until she FINALLY is ready to check my handful of items. Don't get it - she hadn't run a single or Marge's items. Yes it WAS less than 20 I had, despite the full carts I've seen roll through the quickie check.
Takes all kinds. I bet she fishes community ponds too - with a net on stocking day at that!
Even when I've run into people I KNOW when fishing - I'll ask if they mind. Keep a heavy heavy weight handy. Pitch it right over their line when they cast in front of you. Maybe a snagging treble - find it helpful for those overzealous Jet skiers too.
Maybe keep a loud ghetto blaster handy with the most offensive obnoxious music, or Dub Step - and point it AT them - full volume. My dad tried that with a raccoon family in the attic. But they kept moving the radio and changing the station.
