I have fished for walleye in Utah lake for over 30 years. I have seen it all from shoulder to shoulder, to boats touching at Lincoln beach and the bubble up. Lots of big females pulled out. It never hurt the fishery back then, and I see less people fishing for them now. If you want to keep a fish, keep it. As long as your with in the rules have fun.
Since they closed the tributaries down to fishing, I have noticed the numbers of fish have increased, and the size has decreased. I have caught lots of walleye over ten pounds, but very few since they closed the rivers. And no they weren't on the rivers, they were in the lake. Catch what you can and have fun. Keep what's legal, and what you can eat.
