Spawning walleyes

+100 Have seen and fished the eyes during spawn for decades and decades. Have seen the mass slaughter of eyes regardless of sex and size. There are just as many hundreds and thousands every year regardless. No amount of harvest or even rotenone on Utah lake would do any significant damage to the eye population there. Count for yourself how many eggs are in a single 5 lb female eye. All you need is ten females eyes successfully spawning and you have enough to fill every eye niche in the entire lake. Empirical qualitative and quantitative evidence starkly shows that it would be impossible to over harvest eyes on Utah Lake. These few high water years have produced a HUGE population. Just wait till the next drought cycle and you will see how many thousands turn up skinny and starving and dying again like in 2005. Even in that catastrophe, it took only two years to have eyes all over the place again. Many didn't die but just got to skin and bones with a giant head. Walleyes are not as prolific as carp but are pretty darn close. They are just not as visible and extremely difficult to catch. Look at the river bed on the provo these days during the spawn. The eyes are packed as thick as the white bass run. Don't ever tell me eyes need protection, people are sooo radically into fish hugging these days it's like a cult of some sort lol.
