Picture a very protective lab. They will usually pick one person and be less friendly to all others very different than a lab. They need to be obedience trained and socialized as a pup because they are big powerful dogs that will bite if they feel threatened. I've never hunted over one but I hear great things about them.
I also hear they're not a good dog if you want to hunt them alongside your buddies dog as they will start fights.
Retriever breeds will chew.
With all this said I love my lab but I think he could use a little bit of these traits and I would like to own a Chesapeake Bay /lab mix one day.
