[#0000FF]Righto. There are almost always a few gregarious cyprinids intermingling on calm mornings on Willard. And you are likely correct in assuming that they were enjoying the "salad bar". They are primarily vegan.
There are also quite a few carp in Deer Creek that cruise the surface in the early am, but I have never seen them group up as much as they do on the murkier waters of UL and Willard.
There is an interesting phenomenon in the late fall on Deer Creek however. As water temps drop through a certain level there is an algae bloom...and a light ripple rolls the algae up into little balls. I call them algae peas. Oh yeah, the carp really slurp them too.
