I was the first recipient of the traveling fly box receiving it last Saturday. It took it's first adventure today on the Henrys Fork in the Island Park area. It was 32 degrees with ice on the guides, mix of sun and clouds and windy. Due to the wind I decided on streamers and selected a black wooly bugger from the impressive selection in the box. Good choice! I started at 11:30 AM and fished for 4 hours. During the first three hours, with the black bugger, I landed 5 rainbows up to 19 inches, 1 brook trout, and 7 whitefish. Whoever tied the black bugger should be proud because after landing 13 fish it was still in good shape except for a little lose thread on the head which I'll repair tonight with a drop of head cement. After the first 3 hours I switched to a reddish colored bugger and landed 1 rainbow and 3 more whitefish. So, for the traveling fly box and it's first day on the water it accounted for 17 fish in 4 hours which is a good day for me. Thanks Windriver for starting this box and it's upcoming travels.
