BFT Traveling Fly Box
#31
Out again today for a couple of hours, back to the Outlet. Although the majority of yesterday's fish were all under 10 inches I could see some larger fish in the stretch I was fishing. I returned today with the Traveling Fly Box and started out using the same flies as yesterday with little action. I thought maybe something larger for the bigger fish and selected the #12 Prince Nymph from the box. I rigged it 18" under an indicator the same way I fished the small flies and caught one right away. As I was stripping some line for a backcast I had a fish grab the nymph. Well it turned out the key for today was to fish the Prince Nymph under the indicator and strip it very slowly. The combination of stripping with the larger fly seemed to keep the smaller fish away. I finished the day releasing 10 fish with only one under 10". All the others were 12-15 inches.
