No doubt. Nevertheless he has a great point. If left unchecked, those smallies will overpopulate and stunt to the point that they become worthless. If you don't think they are taking over that whole system, you either haven't been around very long, or aren't paying attention.
People freak out about walleyes eating everything in the whole wide world and hang scary names on them like top predator, blah blah blah. But those smallies outcompete the shiz out of the walleye. And they eat the shiz out of them too.
I like catching smallies and eating them too, so they are a welcome part of the fishery, but if we implement the "release every bass you catch" mentality on them, we are going to be some sorry suckers.
