I really don't have a lot to contribute to this line of thought, but this one fact:
I have never gone salmon fishing. Why? Because I refuse to allow myself the experience of "combat fishing".
I enjoy fishing, it's peaceful. I've had days where I didn't catch a single fish, and still had a fantastic day on the water.
I refuse to let someone who is impolite, arrogant, pushy- whatever you want to call it- taint my experiences when I'm out trying to enjoy the day.
My loss, yes. Definitely. But, I don't dread seeing other people show up when I have a fishing pole in my hand.
I guess my "moral of the story" is this: you can't control people around you, but you can control who you choose to fish next to.
