As I said before, most of IDFG's numbers are a guest-imate, or SWAG, as I like to call it. More so on their harvest numbers than their guess as to the returns into the hatcheries. As I've stated on other threads, the "creel survey" is a joke. I'm very good friends with several IDFG employees, and even they admit that its a SWAG.
In 2011, we took the drive to Riggins, based upon "9 hrs/fish" that was being report on the creel survey". When we arrived the water was absolutely unfishable in both Rivers, and had been for over two weeks according to a IDFG employee that we visited with on that trip. Unbelievably, the following week, the harvest stats were down to 7 hrs/fish with more fishing hours put in than the previous weeks. Fishermen couldn't have harvested those numbers with a gill net!!
Their SWAG on hatchery returns are no different.[crazy]
