I am kind of glad they are going to shut it down at this time. The upper river communities deserve a chance to get some fish on their stretches so that they can bring in some business like Riggins does. We fished the Little Salmon last Friday until Sunday morning and had an absolute blast!
We hooked up a ton and brought some good fish home. We did a lot of "sore lipping" too as Chrome would call it. With the long drive from the Idaho Falls area to Riggins we didn't see the point in not fishing all day. We could have been limited each morning by 6:30 but ended up letting about 70% of our fish go. We were spoiled.
I'm looking forward to getting back after them on the Upper in a few weeks.
A lot of the fish were bigger than I had remembered in years past. Did anyone else think this as well? Jacks excluded of course. We caught 5 or6 in the 38-41" mark. One wild one stretched the tape to 42". Lots of fun.
