I just need to figure out the rig I need for catfish. Will google some today, but looks like a heavy weight and keeping the bait 6" to 12" off the bottom is the way to go?[/quote]

There are advantages and diSadvantages to practically any approach, and I'm prepared to take whatever flak I get for this, but I really like fishing under a bobber. At UL it is just not that hard to find out how deep it is, and then set the bobber accordingly for whatever depth. Plus, I get a kick out of having the visual bit detector too, particularly when they are hungry mode and finesse is not that important. [Wink]

I'll usually fish with two poles, the other one is bait on the bottom, sometimes dragging it slowly. And, I've found TD's approach of adding a couple of colored beads as an additional attractant to be quite helpful. [cool]

For me, the only reason to have a "heavy weight" is if fishing from the bank and I need some distance from the shore. (Tho, in that case I use a submersible bubble.) A boat gets me right over the fish (if I can finde 'em). Speaking of which, sounds like your boat is pretty "tricked out." That's awesome. I am unworthy. [laugh]
