Why do a lot of fishermen fish alone?????
#45
I mostly fish by myself. Why? My trips are typically spur-of-the-moment and when I fish alone I can fish how I want and as long (or short) as I want. With that said, I rarely like to fish all day. I like mornings and am almost always off the lake by noon. I absolutely HATE when people feel they need to fish all day to "get their money's worth" out of the trip. What a miserable experience that usually is. I had a great friend who I would go to the Gorge with and drive out in the evening and get there about 10pm. We'd sleep in the back of the truck and then we'd fish from 4:30am to about 2pm. Go to shore, eat lunch and then fish from about 3pm until dark. Then we'd do it again for a second day, then fish the morning of the 3rd day and then drive home. I did that twice (twice to many for me since I was a slow-learner). If I drive to the Gorge and the fishing is hot and I get my limit, I'm done by 10am to noonish, then I'm off the water for a nice relaxing nap after I get my fish filleted and on ice. Even if I don't go to harvest fish, I just enjoy the catching-and-releasing. I then might go back out for a couple of hours in the early evening. Why do people like to keep going all day to justify their gas money? I just don't get it. I'm all about quality. If I have a short "quality" trip, it beats the hell out of a fishing marathon (i.e. "quantity of hours)! It sounds like Kent is one of those maniacs. Each to his own.
