Urban Fishing - Boise River
#50
I just did you guys a favor. Ed cares a lot about the resource and does have a lot of expertise fishing on some of the area's toughest spring creeks. I would probably get along with Ed on the river as we are both catch and release fly fisherman. Online, however, Ed likes to be a real Holier-Than-Thou, Knows-It-All persona...you saw it right away in the two threads he joined. He's condescending, to say the least. He only plays nice with people who humor him and, trust me on this, he would have stirred up discord on the board every time anyone posted a pic of a trout on a stringer. If you want to argue about politics, water policy, how to release a fish or Fish and Game harvest/gear regulations instead of sharing your fishing experiences, he's your guy. I just gave him a good hard poke so you'd see what lay in store for you. Maybe I was wrong. Given the acrimony I've seen in some of the salmon fishing threads, perhaps he would have fit right in....

Now, I admit I ripped a dude on this forum four months ago. But I called him a poacher because, technically, when you post up pics of an illegally harvested teton river cutty on a stringer, you are a poacher. Similarly, if you are really entertained by the sound of your own voice (or posts), you are a "blowhard" according to Webster's dictionary. If "poacher" and "blowhard" are out of bounds epithets, well, mea culpa.
