To spear...or not to spear?

I'm definitely against anyone killing trophy fish. I'm not sure why people have to kill the biggest fish when a few smaller fish can produce the same meal. I used to kill big fish when I first started fishing but learned a better way. I keep bass all the time and love me some fish tacos but I'm good enough at filleting fish that I can produce a nice meal for my wife and I with 4 to 5 ten inch smallies. If you can't get meat off a ten inch smallie, your most likely wasting most of the meat on a big fish and shouldn't harvest anyways.
