To spear...or not to spear?

[quote DeadI]and I can tell you this, that it is not an easy sport. It is a lot easier to go catch one on my pole.

I would take issue with this when it comes to taking big fish. I have buddies that spearfish, the main reason they started doing it because when they would dive for fun they would get frustrated at seeing all of the large fish and then have such a tough time getting them to bite on rod and reel. If there was a fishing contest between spearfisherman and anglers, I would wager money on spearfisherman every time when it comes to the big fish prize. All that being said, I don't really have an issue with it. Some like to release big fish, some like to keep them, just like some like to spear big fish and others spear smaller fish for the table. Evens out. Now if spearfisherman showed up at "my" lake, than I might feel differently! [Tongue]
