I had tp44 scheduled to fish with me today, but with the storms going through the area at 6:00 am and radar showing storms all the way to Lynchburg, we decided to postpone until tomorrow for our trip. As it turns out, the storms moved quickly out of the area by 8:00 AM and that left me wanted to go scout for the upcoming crappie tx.

So, Wanda launched me from Tyner Lane ramp and I decided to go check out deep brush. I had no intentions of catching more than 2 fish per spot. First spot, I saw my line go slack on about a 15 count with the first cast, but there was a boat passing slowly by and this is my new secret spot, so I didn't even set the hook. Let the boat pass, reel the lure in, make another cast and catch a nice keeper on that cast. Changed colors and caught another keeper on the next cast. Picked up marker and moved to 2nd spot. That's the way I fished today. Found enough spots to catch 8 keepers and 1 short crappie. I only need 7 for the tournament, so I'm feeling pretty good.

The highlight of the morning was to hook, fight, and land a 3 to 3.5 lb Smallmouth Bass on ultralight tackle. Woo Hoo! Much fun. Beautiful fish. It was the only pic that I took today. I caught my fish using Bobby Garland lures and 1/16 oz jig heads. Another scouting trip tomorrow with Wayne (tp44) and a different area of the lake. Hope to find more keepers. emoBigSmile emoGeezer

Get ready, Wayne.
