Well the wife ended up not filling her elk tag. The first evening she passed on a 300 class 6X6 at 50 yards I brought in with a cow call. She was hoping for a better bull and we had a whole week to hunt. It was her decision so I was fine with that. The 3rd evening we had a 320 class 6X6 bull at 75 yards only offering us a frontal shot and she didn't have a good rest so she passed on this bull as well. That was the end of her opportunities, we had to contend with the muzzle loader deer hunt going on and we also found out that most of the muzzle loader deer hunters were packing over the counter depredation tags for cows so there was one hell of alot of calling going on in the area we hunted and by the 4th day the elk were pretty quiet until after dark. We did enjoy the hunt together and went from mid 80 temps to blowing snow squalls a few days later. She has a late season cow tag so I'm hoping she can fill that tag. I really give her credit for turning down the bull the first evening, we enjoyed watching him as he pranced around in front of us bugleing for at least 10 minutes before he left.
