Went to Strawberry today was blown away with the amount of algae across the entire reservoir. Some areas were as thick as pea soup and smelled really bad. Even the center of the reservoir had pockets so thick the spray and wake of the boat was pure green and brown - I've never seen it so bad! There were some areas along the shoreline the algae looked like a mad scientist petri dish experiment gone bad (mold on top the algae). [crazy]
Until we get some colder water temps, the algae bloom will make it really hard for shore fishing and shallow dragging top water lures and flies. All the fish we caught today were in clearer water areas using sinking line and wooley buggers around 20' down. The narrows and soldier creek side had clearer water and fishable along the shore line.
