Will it work as an ice-fishing rod?
#3
the rod would work just fine on them walleyes.

you will want to stay away from closed faced reels, espesialy if you are fisning out side in the open. the winding mechinism will collect water and will freeze up on you. Shakespeare dose make a close faced ice fishing reel, I have one but I shy away from it because I like their openfaced reels better. I have a dozen of them.

I dont know if I mentioned this to you or not, but if you take a 1 inch lath board notch out the ends drill a hole on one end sand it down tie on some line grab a hook bobber and sinker you will have all that the pro trout fisherman use. all for under 50 cents. I have 50 of these. I made a hundred and fifty of them but every one who tryed one and caught a fish wanted to keep it so I gave it to them.

any light weight open faced reel will do nicely on that scoby rod.
