Will it work as an ice-fishing rod?

Hey DDR, What Dave says is right. Unfortunately the Shakesphere line of comic fishing poles are all enclosed face reels and they are incorporated into the handle of the rod itself.

There are many inexpensive rod designs out there that afford the flexibility and stamina that goes into making an icefishing rod what it is rated for.

If indeed you are targeting smaller species of crappie, trout or walleye, then a large pole isn't necessary. Just make sure you take the other necessary precations with the other tackle the you chose to use.
